Conversation & Community Meal

Upcoming March 22, 2026

Join us for a Conversation & Community Meal on Métis Self-Government

All Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizens—and your families and guests—are warmly invited to attend an upcoming Community Self-Government meeting hosted by the South West Regional Team in partnership with the Niagara Region Métis Council.

We will be gathering to share a meal and have open, welcoming conversations about the self-government constitution process. Even if you are a new citizen, have limited knowledge, or haven’t been following this process, you are welcome. This will be a space to connect, learn, ask questions, express concerns, and share what feels meaningful to you as we move forward on this important journey. Additional resources and information will be shared as the meeting day approaches.

Who is Welcome?

Everyone. Truly.

  • Adults, Elders, youth (16–29), and families
  • New citizens who are just starting to learn about self-government and/or the MNO
  • Long-time citizens who have followed the journey from the beginning
  • Citizens who have not yet participated in a self-government event
  • Guests and non-MNO family members

We know families often face barriers to attending—busy schedules, child care, little ones in tow. Please know that your littles are welcome, and we will take care of the meal so you can participate and be present. Parents/caregivers are responsible for their children during the meeting.

If enough youth (16–29) register, we will offer a dedicated conversation space to ensure young voices are meaningfully heard.

Supporting Meaningful Citizen Participation

All are welcome to attend these sessions to learn about the self-government process, ask questions, and take part in the community conversations. Because the constitution and self-government journey are the responsibility of Métis citizens, we will use a simple way to identify citizen participants so that their input can be meaningfully gathered and reflected.

This allows us to honour the role of Métis citizens in shaping our constitution, while ensuring the space remains open, respectful, and inclusive of families and guests.

Why We’re Gathering We want to hear from you—your priorities, questions, concerns, and hopes for the developing Métis government constitution. These meetings offer an organic, comfortable way for us to spend time together, build relationships, and ensure citizens’

We look forward to meeting you, hearing your thoughts, and sharing a meal together.
